Our Pain Management Center in Irvine Introduces Cold Laser Therapy

Cold laser therapy is a treatment that uses specific wavelengths of light to penetrate deep tissue and accelerate the healing process. The laser is placed over the injury for approximately 30 seconds to a few minutes. In addition to speeding up the body’s natural healing process, cold laser therapy helps to:

  • reduce swelling
  • eliminate pain
  • reduce spasms
  • increase functionality

During the procedure, the laser is put over an injured area and non-thermal photons of light pass through all the skin’s layers, including the dermis, epidermis, and subcutaneous tissue. It’s a deep penetrating treatment that is highly effective for pain management. Often, it is used for conditions, such as plantar fasciitis, neuropathy, tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome and back pain.

Advantages of Using Cold Laser Therapy in Irvine

There are many other advantages with this type of laser therapy. It’s non-invasive, has no side effects and helps eliminate dependency on pain medications. It’s also FDA-approved and safe, as patients are given goggles to wear during treatment. Another benefit of cold laser therapy is that it can easily be used in combination with a variety of other treatments, such as chiropractic spinal adjustments and massage therapy. Depending on the severity of the condition, it can take a series of treatments to get full relief from pain symptoms.

Cold Laser Therapy can Help Plantar Fasciitis

Some conditions, like plantar fasciitis, are complex. This painful disorder affects the bottom of the foot and occurs within a thick band of tissue. It’s a chronic condition that manifests itself with a stabbing pain in the bottom of the foot, frequently associated with joggers. Recent studies have shown that cold laser therapy for plantar fasciitis is effective. In a 2014 study, six treatments over a period of three weeks with cold laser therapy demonstrated a significant improvement in foot pain.

How do you say thank you to Superman!!! I have suffered with vertigo for 3 weeks, and been scared to death to drive or sailing my boat in the harbor. I even went to see another chiropractor last week, who adjusted me and bragged about himself and how great he was, but what a waste he was. My vertigo was worse the next day and he apparently didn't know the correct treatment. Desperate to find another chiropractor and also calling ENT MD's, I stumbled across this very local chiropractor, Dr. Rick. I called to be sure he knew how to do a specific treatment I learned was ONLY for vertigo patients. He was so personable, his receptionist gave him my call and he spoke to me, explaining what needed to be done, and that he had treated it many times before. When I spoke to him on the phone, I knew that he really did know this specific treatment just for vertigo, since he called it by name. Finding Dr. Rick was miracle!!
